Until such time as we are able to resume them, we will be hosting mo nthly AuthorCraft Zoom events. these will be free of charge. Valma James

Valma James is a  registered nurse, social worker, radio presenter, author, and Life Coach.  She has gained her experience in working within the public, private and statutory sector influencing public policy on health and social care, spanning over 30 years, through using her capacity to think out of the box as a lateral and strategic thinker. Her employment has also  include, working within NHS and  Local authority in commissioning, service development , equalities  and performance, and has been employed as a  youth worker, and community development  worker, engaged in establishing community based services for  reducing health, social, education and economic inequalities. She received an award from Luton Borough Council for her valued contribution to Neighbourhood Regeneration  Fund Project for improving the health of ethnic Minorities communities to reduce health inequalities and has been instrumental and successful in initiating innovative projects for addressing social inequalities. She received commendation for her work in Bedfordshire from Dr John Reid,  Secretary of Health and Chief Medical Officer (DOH)in 1999.  She was a volunteer in the capacity of a Life Coach with Luton Youth at risk and a Community educator with  Open University Community Education and was appointed Senior Lecture with Bedfordshire University Evidence Based Practice Faculty. Valma is  passionate about improving the wellbeing and quality of life of communities, through encouraging and empowering  individuals to participate in personal development opportunities to grow  and reach their potential. Her interest is neuroscience, mental health, diversity management and human behaviour, including raising the profile of informal carers caring for adults and children with learning disabilities and autism. Valma, uses the radio to educate and inspire, her book “Self-Appraisal ,Discovering and Maximising your Potential “is about encouraging and  engaging individuals in leveraging their  knowledge and experience  to create their economic independence and self reliance. 

Her motto is ” You cannot be dependent on others to change you – it is ultimately your journey”
